2016-2017 Call for Proposals
Please consider submitting a proposal for the first Global Conference in Doctoral Preparation (GCDP). GCDP is an On-going Online Open-Access conference that runs across the year. The deadline to submit a proposal will be September 11, 2016 at 11:59 PM (EST). The goal of this project is to engage doctoral students in a collaborative mentoring and research collective, and provide a space for doctoral students to present to international audiences and, if desired, move the presentation into a potential publication. Some topics that have been discussed in the conference includes international doctoral students’ academic enculturation, IRB research protocol writing processes, introduction to research methods, writing dissertation processes, conducting community-engaged research, tools for data analysis, tools for organizing references, etc.
The GCDP Online On-going Open-Access Conference will host from one sole speaker (45 minutes) up to three presentations (20 minutes). Doctoral students from across the globe are invited to present their insights into the many aspects of doctoral preparation. As part of the larger GCDP project, presenters are encouraged to turn their presentations into a chapter for possible publication in one of the GCDP doctoral mentoring volumes in preparation.
Across the year, on Sunday evenings, GCDP will host up to three speakers (20 minutes each) for each session with a 15 minute Q&A from audience participants. The mission of GCDP is to create an international network of doctoral students, and to share insights and ideas into the preparation of doctoral students for work in universities as well as other positions. GCDP has initiated its third Call for the 2016-2017 year. We invite doctoral students from all parts of the world to submit proposals for each of the Calls listed below. We hope that you will share this information with doctoral students across the globe to participate. We also hope that doctoral students share this with other groups in which they are active to build a strong international network of doctoral students. The GCDP team has generated a Call for proposals for different topics of interest to doctoral students. Please access a sample proposal here.
